This season couldn't have been better for farmers and contractors. The Hurunui, North Canterbury had a lot more rain than the usual around the time of drilling which really helped grow and boost the crops. The sun shone in January and February to ripen the grain. The days were hot and sunny. Just what a New Zealand summer should be for a great harvest.
There will many happy farmers with an abundance of straw and grain yield.
Here are some of our best photos harvesting mostly barley this summer in Rotherham, Waiau, Hanmer Springs and Culverden.
